Located in North Western Colombia and bordering the Darien National Park in Panama, this UNESCO declared site is teeming at the brim with biodiversity including a large number of bird species. The park is extremely diverse in wildlife as well as the environment which consists of forest, significant amounts of wetlands and low plains. The National Park is an incredibly important source of water and is also home to many waterfalls.
The Park is named after the indigenous group the Embera Katios who inhabited the park and is the Colombian portion of the Darien Gap. This region was where the first people crossed over from South to North America.
