This sacred UNESCO site Tierradentro is located off the beaten path 5 hours south of Cali & 3 hours east of Popayan. It is home to over a hundred (that they have discovered so far) large pre-hispanic burial tombs (some up to 12 meters!) built by those who lived there between AD 500 and AD 900. They are decorated with motifs which show the social intricacy and cultural affluence during the pre-hispanic period.

The backdrop to this UNESCO site are the stunning Andes mountains where walks are plentiful as are the friendly locals who live in this area
